Happiness...
I've read several things about happiness lately. Never been convinced that happiness is an end in itself. Don't believe it can be found by searching. Better perhaps a by-product of one's commitments, values and relationships.
I am happiest when with people I love, like and respect...
When growing into something I deem important. "
When aware of doing the right thing.
When making a difference for the good of someone else.
When transfixed by the beauty or the terror of nature.
When entranced by a good book, fine music, excellent art or craftsmanship.
When a new idea, insight or inspiration comes my way.
When enveloped in silence.
Desert silence.
Mountain silence.
Woodland silence.
And, while I'm on my feet:
"May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
enough trials to make you strong,
enough sorrow to keep you human,
enough hope to make you happy."
And one more time, from Cowtown Patti:
"Friedrich Nietzsche got it right:
It is not a lack of love,
but a lack of friendship
that makes unhappy marriages."
I'll drink to that. Good stuff!
Good one Roger - very good stuff.
That seeking after happiness as if it is THE goal is right out dangerous - and ironically, makes for not a very happy life I'd imagine.
Peace to you.
